Our Mission

To serve this countrywide, family orientated club by providing expert advice and information on all aspects of the off road experience and to uphold, at all times, our deep commitment to the protection of the environment and its communities.

What The Club Is All About

If you are serious about off road adventures and want to participate in day trips, trails, weekend outings and long haul touring, then a club is the most appropriate way of doing is, while sharing the experience and fellowship with other like minded people!  The interaction in a group facilitates meeting other people, as well as safety.

On joining the club, a member is granted the opportunity to learn all about expeditions, touring, planning, driving, safety, communications etc through constant interaction with other members who are skilled and competent  in these areas.  At the start, may we inform you that the 4x4 Mega World Off Road Club operates electronically and has no home base or club house.  All written correspondence is via email and payments for trips etc are done via internet banking.  Consequently, an absolute prerequisite for participating in membership activities is access to email and internet and if possible, a Rand based internet banking facility.  No other means of correspondence will be entered into. This makes the administration of the club a lot easier. Now, let us tell you about the club!

The club is essentially focused around the following points:

  1. A family orientated club, where every member of the club and club member’s family is treated with respect and dignity.  This is not a “manne” club and everyone is welcome to participate.  This is reflected on our program, by us  not only 4x4-ing, but occasionally touring and camping too.
  2. Care for your vehicle : we are not a “challenge” club, neither are we out to break or damage our vehicles (although incidents can happen) and do not advocate irresponsible driving techniques. The club has access to a range of guides who have suitable training and experience to either assist or lead trails so as to ensure safety and enjoyment.  All members sign the necessary indemnity forms from the club  prior to any event.
  3. Fun : we have the vehicles, we have the country – let’s use it!  As the saying goes: “If you are not living on the edge, you are taking up too much space!”  We must have fun as life is too short to miss the wonderful opportunities our country offers.

We advocate good outdoor principles and behaviour and responsible driving at all times.  Take only pictures and leave only responsible tyre prints.

The club also offers training (formal and informal) in the areas of driver training (basics to advanced), navigation (map to GPS), first aid, etc.  Membership is open to all serious 4x4 enthusiasts who have 4x4 vehicles and want to use them responsibly.  At times, 4x2 vehicles can be accommodated.  Certain basic equipment is required before participating in any of the more remote and exciting trips. Every off roader should, however, always carry a suitable tyre pump, tyre gauge and basic recovery gear (shackles and snatch strap; tow rope). A good medical kit and fire extinguisher should always be present in your vehicle too.  These must be presented at your first participating event.

Membership is by final selection and will work as follows for the forthcoming year:

  1. Put in your application (via the prescribed form). Completion of this form accepts automatically that you have read the terms and conditions hereunder and they will therefore be effective immediately.
  2. This information will be ratified and if accepted, you will be informed and given the bank account number in which to deposit your membership fee.
  3. Once payment is received and recorded, you will receive your membership number.  This number will be electronically recorded for record purposes and you will immediately be placed on the members’ circulation list.
  4. Membership fees are due on the 1st of November.  Failure to remit payment by the end of that month will cause automatic lapsing of your membership with no additional reminders issued.  Should you wish to rejoin, a formal application needs to be submitted.  The onus is on you to renew your membership.
  5. An indemnity form must be completed before each trip.
  6. The instructions of the trail leader / host is final and failure to comply, may result (in extreme cases) in your being asked to leave the club.
  7. All basic off road rules are to be adhered to and litter removed.
  8. No reckless driving will be tolerated and a strict NO DRINKING & DRIVING policy exists.
  9. Potential members / guests will only be permitted 2 outings where after they are expected to apply for membership or cease further participation.

All applications will be approved by the committee of the 4x4 Mega World Off Road Club.

The club is looking for active members to support its events; has a strong intention to keep the demographics of the club according to the ethos set; family orientated members of all ages and not “hooligan” or over indulgent type drivers attempting to prove that he is “the best driver in Africa”!

In addition, politics, racism, excessive use of alcohol, abusive language, raucous behaviour etc will not be tolerated at all.

The club has use of exclusive tracts of land in certain areas of South Africa and southern Namibia.  Alliances are built with trail owners and equipment / service providers where discounts can be obtained to the benefit of our members.

Your acceptance into the club is in no way a right or assured and no correspondence with regard to this will be entered into.  Membership of other clubs is allowed.
