Grade: 2-3 | Distance: Five trails total 40km | Duration: 7-10 hours | Category: Self-drive| Cost: R150 per vehicle.

This farm trail is fairly easy with some routes suitable for soft-roaders as well.  It can become moderate to challenging at the rocky sections, stream crossings and muddy river parts.  There are five trails that make up the entire route and they vary to suit all levels of experience.  As it forms part of the Baviaanskloof Wilderness Area, there’s no shortage of plant, animal and birdlife, so the drive is interesting even on the easier roads.

Getting there

From Uniondale, take the N9 to Willowmore.  Turn right onto the R329.  Turn left after about 22 kilometres.  Glenmore Farm Cottage and 4×4 Trails is on the right.

Where to stay

There’s a self-catering cottage for R150 a person a night and campsites for up to 26 people for R100 a person a night.
